The duty of an actor isn’t always about perfecting dialogue delivery or dancing well or doing some entertaining and emotional scenes. Sometimes actors go too far to get into the skin of a character. Sometimes actors put their blood and sweat while preparing for the role and transform mentally and physically for a role.

Many actors had transformed their bodies for their roles in films and we bring you the list of 18 actors who underwent extreme physical transformations for their roles.

But did you know that the actor got a 36 inch waist for the first time in his life for the 2010 released movie Guzaarish to play the role of a paralyzed magician-turned-Radio jockey? Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan who prefers doing films with a substance over style had sported 8 packs for his role in Ghajini by following an intense workout routine. The actor worked out for 3 hours a day, 6 days a week for 13 months to achieve this look.

7. Bhumi Pednekar

Bhumi made her acting debut in 2015 with Dum Laga Ke Haisha for which she won a Filmfare award for best debut actress. The actress was seen in the role of an overweight bride and her weight was 89 kgs in the film. The actress then made a stunning transformation by losing 32 kgs and that too without starving herself.

“I started with an hour at the gym. Then I started playing badminton and simultaneously increased my hours at the gym. There are times where you want to lose weight, and then there are times where you just don’t care. I realised it has to be a combination of both”, the Pati Patni Aur Woh actress said.

Vikram is known as “One Man With Many Faces”. The actor is always ready to do whatever it takes to get into the skin of a character.

His transformation of the 2015 released movie ‘I’, directed by Shankar is more than the extreme transformation that any Indian actor has done for a single film.

When asked in an interview that is it true that he lost more than 25 kgs for I, the actor replied, “Unfortunately, it’s true. But I am not alone. I think Matthew McConaughey lost 23 kilos to play the character of an AIDS patient in Dallas Buyers Club. The thing is he was already fit and he just stopped eating, while I was on a diet to lose weight”.

9. Anushka Shetty

Anushka Shetty played an overweight, brave, independent woman role in Size Zero and the actress had gained 20kgs to look fat in this Prakash Kovelamudi directorial. The actress refused to wear a fat-suit for the movie and did it all by herself. She ate only home food, but in greater quantity to gain weight.

The actor underwent an extreme physical transformation after Bahubali for his role in Aranya and fans were worried about the actor after seeing him lose weight in a short span.

17. Aditya Roy Kapur

The actor went through Body Sculpting workout regime to train and shape for his role in Fitoor. The actor’s personal trainer revealed that Aditya trained for at least four days a week for an hour and a half and followed a good diet plan with six meals a day at an interval of two hours or so.

Malang

Aditya Roy Kapur had gone through extreme physical transformation for Malang, to achieve two different looks needed for the character. For the bulked-up version, the actor cut his fat percentage from 18% to 9%, and the actor cut down salt from all of his meals.

The actor revealed that he used to hit the gym even after shooting for 12 to 14 hours a day.

18. Shahid Kapoor

To play a self-destructive man, the actor had gained 8 kgs and then he lost 14 kgs to play a college boy.

To gain weight, the actor took a lot of dense-calorie foods, involving rice and pastas. He followed a 4000 calorie/day diet to gain weight. For the weight loss portion, the actor took just 1800 calories per day and physical training of 3 hours a day.
