Indian Cinema has brought many inspiring real-life stories in front of the audience in the name of biopics and especially Bollywood is producing biopics every year. And we know that bollywood is so obsessed with biopic films.
Well, if that’s not the case, we won’t be having Dangal, which is the highest grossing Indian movie till date. We have biopics on Mary Kom, Dhoni, Sachin, Sanjay Dutt, Milkha Singh, and the list goes on.
But the question here is how true are these biopics when compared to reality. Did all the incidents and scenes that we have seen in these biopics really happened in real life?
What if the directors added some drama to never happened in real life? Well, we think this happens in every biopic film made. Drama or conflict is the thing that draws the audience. But what if the directors or story writers have changed the facts in the name of biopic?
Here is the list of 5 Bollywood biopic movie scenes that never happened in reality, but were created in the biopics just for the sake of drama.
Can you believe that this Aamir Khan’s blockbuster film came in this list? But unfortunately yes.
In the climax scene, Aamir Khan was locked inside a room by the coach when the final match was going on. Well, that never happened in real.
It is a story of the courageous Neerja Bhanot (played by Sonam Kapoor), who sacrificed her life protecting the lives of 359 passengers on Pan Am flight 73 in 1986. This flight was hijacked by a terrorist group. Fellow crew members of Neerja claimed that Neerja untainted importance.
Nupoor Abrol, one of the flight attendants said: “Yes, truly a very difficult moment. But also a difficult moment for all those flight attendants to accept the movie for what it is unfairly propagating. Neerja was a wonderful person and I think even her soul today would cringe at taking this undeserved adulation. Not fair to the FA’s who have in reality faced their ordeal!”
Dirty Picture stars Vidya Balan in the lead role who played Silk Smitha and even won National Award for her performance.
The film suggested that Smitha overdosed on sleeping pills and committed suicide, but as per her Wikipedia page Smitha reportedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan and died.
Sanjay Dutt’s biopic, which stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role (he played Sanjay Dutt in the film) went to collect some crores at the Worldwide box office. There is no doubt that Ranbir delivered a terrific performance. But is the film authentic?
Well, many say the film is just to whitewash Sanjay Dutt image and to convince people that they misunderstood this Lage Raho Munna Bhaii actor. We think the same. What do you think?
Ever since the movie was released, it has become controversy’s favourite child. IAF and the Indian Army had previously questioned the makers about the irregularities in their depiction of the institutions. Many batchmates of IAF Officer Gunjan Saxena have also pointed out that the infrastructural disadvantages and the pervasiveness of the gender bias depicted in the movie was not actually the case.
Ever since the institutions have opened their doors to women, they have promised to not discriminate against them for their gender. While it must have been extremely tough to be a woman in one of the first batches in these institutions, which have been traditionally associated with men, it seems morally wrong to portray that they weren’t even provided with basic facilities such as changing rooms.
And there are many more movies and many times..our directors fooled us by changing the facts.
